Artists & Makers Studios in Rockville Hosts “Creative Convergence: Artists who met at HorseSpirit Arts Gallery” and a Book Signing of  “Art From Your Core” by Artist Kate Kretz

(Rockville, MD) – Artists & Makers Studios on Parklawn Drive in Rockville is thrilled to host a dynamic creative group for the Month of May. The exhibit runs from May 1st through May 29th at Artists & Makers Studios, with an opening reception on Friday, May 3rd, 5 – 8pm. “Creative Convergence” includes five artists who met during the last ten years in HorseSpirit Arts Gallery. Members April M. Rimpo, Allen Alexopulos, Nancy Lee Davis, Beverley Hunter, and Linda Trope will exhibit. Owner and curator Robin Holliday described her selection of artists as “talented, kind-hearted, local Artists that would evolve into a very special art community.” They say mission accomplished! The artists of HorseSpirit Arts Gallery became an extended family. Bonds grew that make them want to continue their relationship now that HorseSpirit Arts Gallery has closed. These artists hope their art continues to provide viewers with a sense of refuge and serenity, and gives them happiness each time they see it. A&M is thrilled to host Kate Kretz for a signing of her new book “Art From Your Core” during the First Friday event. Enjoy additional exhibits “The Secret Garden” with Resident Artists – on view in the Gallery Hall, along with nineteen Gallery 209 Member Artists exhibiting their latest work. Shop and support local working artists, makers, and professionals.

Allen Alexopulos – Master Wood Turner

Allen has been creating custom woodturning art in his studio in Annapolis, Maryland since 2001. He strives to create unique turned objects from both domestic and exotic tree species.  His woodturning repertoire includes natural edged and formal vessels, lidded boxes with ornate finials, hollow forms, platters and sculpted forms.  Simple shapes combined with graceful curvatures amplify the beauty of his turnings.

Nancy Lee Davis – Oil Painter

After years of environmental leadership on local, state and national levels, Nancy began a second career as a modern impressionist painter and art teacher.  Now she is attempting to save the landscape on canvas with oil paint and brushes.  She takes pleasure in knowing that collectors in many states and countries are enjoying her art.

Beverley Hunter

For Beverley, Mosaic Art is a culmination of her creative passions from a very early age, including portraiture, needlepoint, quilting, ceramics, incessant drawing, and adoration for color! Beverley uses many types of media in her mosaics, including glass, ceramics, beads, tiles, and unique found treasures.

April M. Rimpo

April Rimpo, a passionate artist who believes her subject matter chooses her, unveils a collection of landscapes, urban scenes, and everyday moments in her artwork. With an unwavering love for exploring the stories embedded in diverse places and events, Rimpo’s paintings capture the essence of life as their storyteller.

Linda Trope

Linda Trope has always been fascinated with modern dance and especially capturing the intensity and exuberance of the dancing figure. Her figures are anonymous, because she wants the viewer to concentrate on the essence, power and beauty of bodies in extended movement. Over the years, her work has increased in complexity, including fanciful landscape settings and complicated grid and repeat patterns.
