Victoria Hanks studied painting, drawing, sculpture and printmaking at New York University and Brooklyn College, earned a BFA at Montclair State University and an MFA at the University of Hartford. A practicing studio painter, she studied and painted in Italy and in residencies in New England and upstate New York.  She has exhibited nationally and internationally.  Hanks has also written critical pieces for New York Arts Magazine and other arts periodicals and has taught studio and lecture classes at Montclair State University, Brookdale Community College and Monmouth University.

In addition, Hanks has created various site-specific installations in Venice, Italy (outdoor paper sculpture), New York, NY (Amos Eno Gallery wall painting), Newark, NJ (Newark National Building wall painting), Montclair, NJ (Montclair State University Cali building stairwell mural), Long Branch, NJ (Shore Institute of Contemporary Art wall painting), Halsey Street, Newark, NJ (window installation).
