“Looking for Tranquility” An Exhibition of Paintings by Eldon Ward

(Oro Valley, AZ) – Artists and Makers Studios in Oro Valley announces their latest exhibit, Looking for Tranquility, a collection of Eldon Ward’s paintings that seek to balance graphic precision and a vibrant, Fauvist approach to color, with an intent to evoke a sense of calm and contemplation. His compositions tend toward orchestrated mash-ups with multiple layers of (mostly) recognizable elements and geometric forms: presented in a manner that is orderly, but leaves room for viewer uncertainty and interpretation. Eldon’s paintings are acrylic and other water-based media on panels he makes from salvaged building materials – primarily hollow core doors and scrap lumber – finished to be a viable alternative to traditional stretched canvas.

A native of rural eastern Colorado, Eldon Ward earned his BFA from Colorado State University. He has an extensive background in urban design and has been commissioned to create many public and private murals. Eldon has participated in dozens of juried and invitational exhibitions, winning numerous awards. The artist relocated to Oro Valley in 2018 where he is a member of the Southern Arizona Arts Guild and the Sun City Art League. For more information go to www.eldonward.com
