Artists & Makers Studios in Rockville Hosts the Joyful Work
of Rachel Ann Cross for the Month of February
(Rockville, MD) – Artists & Makers Studios on Parklawn Drive in Rockville hosts Artist Rachel Ann Cross in the gallery for the exhibit “Nature, Myth, and Magic” with two additional exhibits and an Open Studio event. The February 3rd First Friday evening opening will run from 5pm – 9pm. Rachel Ann Cross is a mixed-media artist inspired by nature, creation stories from all over the world, and sacred and magical experiences. A sense of wonder plays heavily into her creative process as she builds her artwork in layers allowing for surprises and new juxtapositions. Rachel’s artwork incorporates found objects, repurposed broken jewelry, and other non-traditional art materials that are often discarded by our society. Rachel’s work is often described as joyful, meditative, and WOW. Enjoy additional exhibits – “Extremity” with Resident Artists, and 19 Gallery 209 Artists exhibiting their latest work. In the February exhibition, Resident Artists explore the various manifestations of the theme “Extremity”. Whether it’s about physical boundaries and protuberances or psychological limits, extremity gives art potency and magnitude. It is beautiful and disruptive, uncomfortable and arresting. It lacks constraint and requires imagination, daring and a willingness to fail. In art, extremity tells the most compelling stories.
