Zsudayka Nzinga Terrell and her Solo Exhibit “The Coming of Middle Age”
(Rockville, MD) – Artists & Makers Studios on Parklawn Drive in Rockville is delighted to host Zsudayka Nzinga Terrell for the month of August. The exhibit, “The Coming of Middle Age” runs from August 2nd through August 23rd at Artists and Makers Studios, with an opening reception on Friday, August 4th, 5 – 8pm. Coming of age has always focused on a protagonist transitioning from teens to early adulthood. This exhibition challenges viewers to re-engage the aging process as a system of cycles we return to. Although older, 39 represents the doorway to a sort of coming of age. It is an intimate exploration of the mind of an artist, mother, wife and Black woman; a glimpse into how she sees herself and the world around her told through the lens of a studio visit. Based on large scale self-portraits taken by Mariah Miranda and Underwood photography, the artist brings us into her studio to show the work behind the stories of the paintings and shares glimpses of things she is thinking about and how it comes out in her work.
Enjoy additional exhibits – “What would Andy do?” with Resident Artists – Andy Warhol worked in a variety of mediums focusing on death and disaster, flowers, soup cans, Brillo boxes, multiplied images, portraits, religious imagery, and more – see the artists’ take. On view in the Gallery Hall, August 2nd – August 23rd along with 19 Gallery 209 Member Artists exhibiting their latest work.

Exhibits for Zsudayka, the Resident Artists, and Gallery 209 will run from August 2nd through August 23rd. Viewing hours are 10:00am – 4:00pm, Monday-Saturday, and Sundays by chance or appointment. Artists & Makers Studios on Parklawn Drive in Rockville, established in October 2014 by artist and arts community builder Judith HeartSong, is a 13,000 sq. ft. facility is home to 87 artists, and 80 student artists. Artists & Makers Studios – Oro Valley, AZ is a two-year-old jewel box location with talented Resident Artists, 3,575 sq ft of studios, galleries, and flex-classroom space. Construction is currently underway in San Gabriel, CA for Artists & Makers Studios’ third location, with construction set to begin shortly for the fourth location in North Hollywood, CA. A&M Studios is dedicated to providing a supportive and vibrant environment for artists to realize their creative goals – through studio practice, collaboration, education, opportunities, networking and connecting with the community beyond our doors.
