Artists & Makers Studios on Parklawn in Rockville is proud to present one three gallery exhibit for the month of December along with artists’ open studios. “trans•fer•ence – new prints by Adjoa Burrowes, Gail Shaw-Clemons, Sheila Crider, Cheryl Edwards, Pamela Lawton and Michelle Talibah” features the printmaking of six mid-career artists, creating a dynamic conversation among colleagues and friends. Each artist brings their own sensibility and perspective that alludes to the transfer of ideas that include cultural, environmental and identity issues, and is curated by Adjoa Burrowes. Words out Loud in the Compass Atelier, from 7-8pm with Philip Wexler, Joanne Rocky Delaplaine and Sally Wen Mao will be followed by an open mic. Resident artists’ open studios will round out the evening for visitors at Parklawn.

Additionally A&M is proud to present four exhibits at Artists & Makers Studios 2 at 12276 Wilkins Avenue in Rockville, just 9/10’s of a mile from the flagship location. “Flora” in the main gallery with renowned painter Teresa Oaxaca, Textiles and Lunatics: Constructing Dreams with Sandra Pérez-Ramos, and “A Cultural Tour of India” with Jim Auerbach of the Montgomery County Camera Club will fill the galleries, as Arthur Harrison adds acoustic ambience with theremin music and the band Paradise Bill performs their psychedelic sets, which include tributes to Rockers in the third floor artists’ lounge. Enjoy a FireClay Pop-Up Gallery and Holiday Market Sale on the third floor with metro-area ceramists, an exhibit in Gallery 209, and resident artists’ open studios to round out the evening.

These exhibits at both locations open Friday, December 1st, and continue through Thursday, December 21st, 2017.  Viewing hours are 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Tuesday-Friday, 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM Saturdays, and Sundays/Mondays by chance or appointment.

Artists & Makers Studios on Parklawn Drive in Rockville is a 13,000 sq. ft. facility with 65 resident artists. Artists & Makers Studios 2 on Wilkins Avenue in Rockville is a 23,000 sq. ft. facility with 73 resident artists. A&M Studios is dedicated to providing a supportive and vibrant environment for artists to realize their creative goals – through studio practice, collaboration, education, opportunities, networking and connecting with the community beyond our doors.
